Indian benchmark indices may start session on a muted note

31 Jan 2024 , 08:31 AM

Domestic Equity indices may start today’s session on a flat note after marking a highly volatile trading trajectory in Yesterday’s session. On Tuesday, indices closed with significant declines. BSE Sensex ended 802 points lower at 71,139. NSE Nifty closed 215 points lower at 21,522.

On the global front, US markets closed in mixed sentiments. Dow Jones closed with a gain of 134 points. Nasdaq Composite, on the other hand, closed 118 points lower. S&P 500 ended flat.

Asian markets are trading with declines following tech losses on Wall Street. Chinese Shanghai Composite is trading 1.11% lower. Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 0.52% lower. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is trading with a decline of 1.25%. South Korean Kospi index ended down by 0.24%. Taiwan index closed 0.64% lower.

Tata Motors, BPCL, Eicher Motors, Adani Enterprises, and Grasim Industries closed as the biggest gainers. Bajaj Finance, Ultratech Cement, Titan, Bajaj Finserv, and Reliance Industries ended as the top laggards.

Oil prices fell in early Asian trade on Wednesday due to sustained unfavourable fundamentals, following gains the day before amid an increasing Middle Eastern crisis.

The rupee rose 6 paise to 83.10 vs the US dollar on Tuesday, after a weak greenback against major currencies overseas and a subdued trend in local stocks.
