Modern Threads (India) Limited was incorporated in August, 1980 and was jointly promoted by the Rajasthan State Industrial Development & Investment Corporation (RIICO) and H S Ranka for manufacturing industrial yarn and sewing thread. Since then, Company has diversified into the manufacture of synthetic blended grey, dyed and fancy yarn.Modern Woollens was started in 1973 as a unit for spinning carpet yarns. It commenced the business in January, 1982 at the plant located in Raila, in Bhilwara District of Rajasthan.

Very soon, it occupied the slot of the largest manufacturer of carpet yarns in the organized sector. In 1987, Modem Woollens diversified into manufacturing of all wool and wool-blended worsted yarn in India.In 1989, Company diversified info manufacturing of wool tops and doubled the production capacity of all wool and wool blended worsted yarn in 2006. Further, in 2014, about 1000 spindles were added with balanced preparatory machines to enhance yearly production capacity of worsted yarn from 1700 tons to 2100 tons.

Keeping pace with overall industrial development in India, the Company has emerged as one of the leading manufacturers and exporters of wool and blended worsted yarn from India. a wholly owned subsidiary in name of Modern Woollens UK Ltd was incorporated on 18.11.2024. The Company started manufacturing & exporting RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) & GRS (Global Recycled Standard) products & supplying sustainable yarn in global market in 2021.
